L2-RM Pinpoints Leaks in an Ozone-Containing Enclosure
IN USA, Inc. has started shipping the Model L2-RM, the
first continuous, on-line ozone analyzer designed specifically
to measure and pinpoint ozone (O3) leaks
inside a cabinet or enclosure housing an ozone generator and/or
process. The Model L2-RM combines state-of-the-art sensor design,
microprocessor-based measurement and control circuitry, dual UV
(ultraviolet) sensor measurement, and numerous other features
in a compact package that mounts inside an enclosure with minimal
Ozone is now being used in numerous industrial processes in water
and wastewater treatment, semiconductor manufacturing, pulp and
paper manufacturing, and many other industries. It has become
increasingly necessary to quickly and reliably measure and pinpoint
leaks in enclosed areas around ozone generators and processes.
The Model L2-RM measures the ambient ozone inside an ozone-containing
enclosure over the range of 0 to 10 ppm. Using a new and innovative
sensing technique (patent pending), the Model L2-RM provides real-time,
enclosure-specific ozone leak detection that allows the user to
quickly pinpoint the exact location of a leak, prevent unnecessary
and expensive shutdowns due to false alarms from background contaminants,
and insure worker safety.
The Model L2-RM is designed for fast response, ease of use, and
reliability. Unlike electrochemical-based ozone sensors, the Model
L2-RM makes a primary measurement of ozone concentration that
is absolutely ozone-specific and enclosure-specific. In addition,
the unique, dual UV sensor arrangement compensates for background
contaminants and for potentially interfering vapors and other
organic compounds that could be present. The UV lamp is thermostatically-controlled
to compensate for aging effects, has a minimum operating life
of two years, and is easily replaced in the field when necessary.
A built-in catalyst completely eliminates the sample ozone, thereby
prolonging sample pump life for many years and permitting easy
disposal of the sample gas. The Model L2-RM is factory calibrated
to 1% repeatability, provided with a certificate of calibration
traceable to NIST, and is self-calibrating during operation. It
also provides continuous internal diagnostics and outputs user-friendly
The Model L2-RM is designed for versatility in a wide variety
of installations. Standard features include an alphanumeric vacuum
fluorescent display, 0-10 VDC and 4-20 mA analog outputs, bi-directional
RS232 digital communications, and three FORM C alarm relays (two
are user programmable). The Model L2-RM is supplied in compact,
space-saving bench-top and 19" rack (3U height) mounting configurations.
Two units may be mounted side-by-side in a standard 19" rack.
